Samurai’s Promise (2018) Japanese - Region Free blu-ray: With a similar feel to the works of Fujisawa Shuhei, this adapation of Hamuro Rin’s novel is a brilliant work of motion picture artistry. Having left the clan 8 years earlier after being accused of a murder he did not commit, top swordsman Uryu Shinbei returns to fulfill a promise to his late wife. The clan is in disarray as the young lord is about to take control, while some of his vassals plot against him. Constantly in danger from attacks that wish to silence him, Shinbei’s prowess with the sword in unmatched. Hired as bodyguard to the man with the secret that would unlock the mystery of the heinous murder, Shinbei must fight his greatest battle. The ultimate in samurai drama with expert swordplay makes this award-winning movie stand out among recent Japanese films. Sword Devil (1965) Japanese - Region Free blu-ray: This is a brilliant collaboration between master filmmaker Misumi Kenji and superstar Ichikawa Raizo, from a novel by Shibata Renzaburo, the author who created the Nemuri Kyoshiro series as well as another great classic Destiny’s Son. In the aforementioned titles Shibata’s work always has something in the way of father issues. The main character usually does not know his father and was raised in a foster family. Sword Devil continues this premise and takes it a step further as Hanpei (Ichikawa) is the son of a woman who was never known to be visited by a man, but lived with a dog that many thought was his father. Dog-Boy Hanpei has certain natural abilities as a gardner who can create beautiful landscapes, incredible speed as a runner, and most of all he is a brilliant swordsman, skilled in the art of Iai-do, the quick draw tactics of an expert assassin. He thus is asked to kill anyone who may give away the secret of his lord’s insanity, which if exposed would bring about the abolition of his clan. The film’s title refers to the Japanese belief that a sword can have a devil’s spirit within that brings a curse upon the owner. As with most of Misumi’s work, stunning cinematography sets the tone, which superb swordplay and an intelligent story make this one of the great unknown classics of Japanese cinema. Thirst (2009) S. Korean - Region 1 DVD: Catholic priest Sang-hyun volunteers at a hospital, providing ministry to the patients. He eventually volunteers to participate in an experiment to find a vaccine for the deadly Emmanuel Virus (EV). The experiment fails, and Sang-hyun is infected with EV, but makes a complete and rapid recovery after receiving a blood transfusion. Sang-hyun later relapses into his illness and wakes in need of shelter from the sunlight, having become a vampire… Voice of a Murderer (2007) S. Korean - Region Free DVD: One day, the 9-year-old son of famous and successful South Korean news anchor Han Kyung-bae, Sang-woo, disappears without a trace. Later, Kyung-bae receives a phone call from an anonymous person demanding 100,000 dollars as ransom in exchange for the boy's life. The exchange does not happen after the boy's mother Oh Ji-sun gets the police involved. The police assign detective Kim Wook-jung to the case and assembles a secret investigative task force and forensics team. The kidnapper, sometimes referred to as the "Bastard's Voice", however, seems to be smarter than any of the detectives assigned to the case… COMBINED SHIPPING IS AVAILABLE. I'm very happy with this item. It is exactly what I had been looking for in a very long time. Item was exactly as described. Fast shipping. Good packaging. Great value since this is a very difficult to get edition of the Hobbit. All discs were in perfect condition. I appreciate when sellers post the actual pictures of the item instead of stock photos from the internet. Well done. Amazing seller.
