The British publication was founded in 1995 and the American edition in 2001. An Australian edition was published from 2008 to 2012. A children's edition, The Week Junior , has been published in the UK since 2015, and the US since 2020. The magazine's content largely consists of summaries of news stories and opinion columns published by other media outlets earlier in the week, and posts try to maintain a balanced perspective. Some summaries are based on articles in foreign media that were originally published in a language other than English.
