DESCRIPTION: For sale is a vintage 1940's / 1950's VERNON KILNS large chop plate or round platter / serving tray. This is from the California Mission series that was produced circa the 1940's and 1950's. It features a brown transfer print of the Mission San Diego de Alcalá hand tinted in green, red, blue, yellow and orange. The front is labeled "Mission San Diego de Alcalá, Founded July 16, 1769 By Frs. Serra, Vizcaíno and Parrón, San Diego, California". The rim is decorated with a red band. This item is stamped on the bottom with "Vernon Kilns Made in U.S.A." This plate is approximately 14-inches in diameter across the top rim and 3/4 inches tall. It weighs approximately 2-1/2 pounds. CONDITION: This vintage item is in excellent used condition. It is clean. The glaze is bright and shiny. There are very little, very light use marks to the glaze. The three sagger pin marks on the bottom of the bowl are visible. These are the result of the manufacturing process and are not flaws or chips.
