The event marked his solo debut appearance in that city. Among the many celebrities commemorating the event were Andy Warhol and long-time Jones fans Steve Forbert, Linda Rosntadt and Bonnie Raitt. Ronstadt and Raitt joined George for back-up vocals on two numbers, and stopped backstage after the last ovation for a hug with George. George was in New York supporting the recent release of his solo LP, I Am What I Am which includes his now bulleting country single, "I'm Not Ready Yet."
