Scuff/tear on top of spine, cover curls at right, otherwise clean pages with tight binding. This is the 2ND of 4 editions that Watson wrote on the French Defence--each edition being revised and expanded (see my listings). He became a popular opening writer, as his style is a perfect blend of maximum information, but still easy to apply his tips. He uses a tree structure, analysis is mostly his (unattributed) but does select instructional fragments. English algebraic notation. Bibliography. ON OFFER is the 2nd edition-- a wine-colored cover with chessboard subtitled "New Edition" published 1996. The 3rd edition is a purple half cover with other vertical half Black's c5-d6-e7 chain published 2003 by Everyman. The 4th edition is a also purple but horizontal at top with a backdrop of Black's center Pawns looking at White's complete Kingside published 2012. Each edition was a revision and expansion (4th edition is over twice the size of the 1st!), sometimes dropping recommended lines for updated ones discarded in an earlier edition.
