I pulled on the cord and the chainsaw does have compression. Just found at a local estate sale...a very interesting old chainsaw. This is a HOMELITE ZIP chain saw with 14" bar. I pulled on the cord and the chainsaw does have compression. I don't know much about chainsaw...so please have a look at the photos.
