VTG 14 X 17 AUDUBON "Great Blue Heron" American Lithograph Print Plate 211. Composition: To fit the massive bird onto the double elephant folio paper while maintaining his rule of drawing every bird life-size, Audubon brilliantly composed the heron in a deep, curved, neck-bent hunting pose. This is a vintage reproduction plate from The Audubon Folio published in 1964 by Harry N. Abrams in cooperation with the New-York Historical Society. The image is Audubon’s famous “Great Blue Heron” (Plate 211) by John James Audubon. Art Historical Context * Creation: Audubon painted the original preparatory watercolor model for this piece in Louisiana around 1821.
