Vintage Colonial Williamsburg Redware Slipware Trencher 7 3/4". Hand Made Colonial Williamsburg Restoration Reproduction Redware Small Trencher Brown & Yellow. We walked around in wonder seeing all of this, almost everything out of reach of my parent’s budget. Tee were a few small things, bird houses of clay, clay candlestands, Mugs, and then there were the redware trenchers. Glazing was a bit sloppy, but that’s to give it a handmade feel. People dressed in 18thC costumes being friendly and handing out free cookies or gingerbread. It was fun and far less commercial then, now it appropriately earns the sobriquet “Colonial Disneyland”. No doubt the shrine of the 1960s colonial revival interiors movement was “The Craft House”. Here, one could buy faithful reproductions of furniture and decorative arts to beautify your colonial home.
