WHITE SAGINAW MICHIGAN YOUNG BALLET DANCER PHOTO Lovely soft-focus studio photograph of a young ballet dancer posed reclining on a dark stage-like floor, wearing a white tulle costume, ballet slippers, and floral headpiece. The image is signed in pencil at the lower right, “White / 1918,” and is housed in its original photographer’s presentation folder stamped “Chas. E. White, Saginaw, Mich.” on the back flap. The photograph measures approximately 5" x 8", with the folder slightly larger. Light age toning and minor handling wear to the folder; photograph presents very well with a rich sepia tone and atmospheric pictorialist quality. Chas. E. White appears to have operated in Saginaw by at least 1910; a Saginaw High School yearbook advertisement references “Chas E White” and “Pictures taken at graduation,” which supports the photographer/studio attribution.
