Husqvarna 181 SE Chainsaw 80cc Pro Saw Vintage Swedish 181SE Runs . The top engine cover wears a “288XP Husqvarna” sticker. The 181 SE / 281 / 288 family shares the vast majority of parts — cylinder bore is 52mm on the 181SE thin-ring vs 54mm on the 288, otherwise these saws are very closely related. Vintage Husqvarna 181 SE — the legendary 80.7cc Swedish pro saw from the golden era of Husqvarna. Per the serial tag (still legible, photographed): Husqvarna 181 SE, S/N 1984-02-15598, Electrolux Motor AB Sweden — built February 1984. Production ran only 1982–1985, making these increasingly scarce, and they’re famously coveted by saw racers in the 5-cube class. Previous owner reported it runs strong with good compression. I have not personally test-run it and have not personally tested compression, so I’m selling it as needing some TLC. Sold AS-IS, no returns. Honest condition is up to the buyer to verify. The 288XP is a later (1988+) model in the same family — the cover fits and interchanges. Could be an original-owner replacement or a later swap. The saw underneath, per the manufacturer’s serial tag, is a 181 SE. Buyer should be aware.
