The Guthrie Theater presents, in celebration of Scandinavia Today, Henrik Ibsen's epic masterpiece, PEER GYNT, directed by Guthrie Artistic Director Liviu Ciulei, opening Saturday, February 12, 1983 at 3:00 PM. PEER GYNT chronicles the picaresque adventures of a lovable rogue who travels from the fjords of Norway to America, Egypt, the gold fields of California and back again to his homeland. Scenic and costume design is by Santo Loquasto with lighting by Jennifer Tipton. The musical score is by Forenzo Carpi with additional music by Paul Goldstaub. Choreography is by Maria Cheng. Performed in two parts, PEER GYNT is performed consecutively on nights, Tuesday and Wednesday or Thursday and Friday. Both parts are performed in one day on weekends beginning at 3:00 OM and resuming at 7:00 PM.
