Rare Biedermeir Style China Head Doll circa 1848 15". This rare 15-inch bald headed doll is known as a Biedermeir china head doll, and was made sometime between the 1830s and the 1850s. These early china heads were made bald and head coverings or wigs were added. This particular doll appears to have been renovated with newer cloth body and clothing which is sewn on so I cannot show her body. I felt very carefully around her shoulders and find nothing that appears to broken or mended. I pulled up her pantaloons on one leg to show the condition of the fabric her body is made of. Her dress style is appropriate for the era during which she was made. Her wig and hat appear to be antique and possibly original? This doll comes with her own stand that has a 1/2-inch wooden base.
