Vintage framed Currier & Ives chromolithograph reproduction titled “The Queen of the Turf – Maud S., Driven by W.W. Bair.” This iconic American sporting image commemorates legendary trotting horse Maud S., who set a world record time of 2:08 ¾ . Originally published by Currier & Ives in 1880, this example is a high-quality mid-20th century restrike/reproduction, identifiable by the paper type, print characteristics, and original New York framing label on the reverse. The back sticker from a Manhattan framing shop using the “LOngacre” phone exchange dates the framing to approximately the 1940s–early 1950s. Artist credit to Scott Leighton appears in the lower margin, along with the original Currier & Ives Nassau Street publishing line. Housed in its original vintage wood frame with aged paper backing and wire hanger. Beautiful patina throughout. Condition: Vintage condition with age-related toning, light surface marks, and wear to frame. Backing paper shows tears and staining consistent with age. Please review all photos carefully.
