The List of Illustrations has facing page numbers for 5 color illustrations (each full-color, glossy page has absorbed a moisture stain on its blank outside edge, one illustration has some stain on the printed portion as it extends to complete edge of page, pages facing color pages show light rusty-color stains, no text obstructed); 22 line illustrations (drawings of plans, well done); 153 half-tones (black and white photos, showing "how to," photos of gardens, etc., not the sharpest photos but how to's are clear), several of these pages have 2+ photos. Book measures 5.5x8.5, no dust jacket, has light green covers with small bronze-stamped graphic on front. Both covers show several rusty spots/stains as well as very light moisture stain in few areas. Front cover has what appears to be small dots of ink along spine edge, see photo; spine has exposure-browned to light brown, title has somewhat faded and worn, still readable. Spine has area of some lighter spots at head, ends are thin, heel a bit bump-wrinkled; tips have wear at points with back tips showing light bumping; cover edges are a little rough to the touch with couple of small nicks. Covers are tight at binding. Light moisture stain on top and front leaf edges, bottom okay. Inside both covers and first and last blank pages have light moisture stain along edges. Pages are good sturdy paper, mid-ivory in color, text and black and white photo pages are clean; pages tight at binding. Lots of information in this 60-year-old book, good addition to a gardener's reference library.
