Description

How Not to Play Chess by Eugene Znosko-Borovsky, Sal Matera Estimated delivery 3-12 business days Format Paperback Condition Brand New Description A Guiding Light for the Royal Game Almost 100 years ago, one of the classics of chess literature was published in French. It was How Not to Play Chess by Eugene Znosko-Borovsky. It clearly and very simply set forth the basic principles of the game and was immediately embraced by chessplayers worldwide. That first edition - originally in French - was translated into many languages and became a staple of chess instruction everywhere. However, it is not widely known that there were two more editions. The second edition was published in 1937. The final, third edition was released in 1948. Now, for the first time, this expanded third edition has been translated into English. Many diagrams have been added and algebraic notation is used. The result is a brilliant manual for the modern generation of chessplayers. "Znosko-Borovsky, whom I consider one of the great chess teachers, explains the hard work and mindset required to improve your chess ability. The advice and wisdom he offers is relevant for both beginners and grandmasters. In truth, this book describes a process of study. I was delighted to reread How Not to Play Chess -- this time in a refreshing new translation of the third and final edition. Once again, the book energized me. I wish you all well on your chess journey and believe that this gem will act as a guiding light." -Sal Matera, from the Foreword Details ISBN 1963885120 ISBN-13 9781963885125 Title How Not to Play Chess Author Eugene Znosko-Borovsky, Sal Matera Format Paperback Year 2025 Pages 112 Publisher Russell Enterprises GE_Item_ID:170901440; About Us Grand Eagle Retail is the ideal place for all your shopping needs! 1. Great Historic Reproduction of African-American early comics and was just as described and in great shape – packaged relatively well, although treated more like a paperback novel than a historic graphic novel during the shipping process. The great thing is my first order never arrived, and I reached out to the seller who offered me a refund or to reship the book. I obviously opted for the reship!! Great seller and great communication, I would certainly purchase from this seller again. A+++

  2. Like new condition, safe packaging, good communication from seller. Fair price for the quality. Shipping was on time, but tracking information took over a week to receive. The book was as-described with minor cosmetic flaws (indentations in some pages, for example). I wish the listings showed the actual item being sold to you instead of just an accurate stock photo. This edition and appearance of George Orwell's 1984 here is a nice pocket-sized hardcover. I would buy from this shop again.

  3. The two new out-of-print books I ordered were exactly as described and shipped promptly. I did ask the seller's support person (an AI chatbot, I think) to be sure to package the items carefully, and "he" said that he'd make that request of the shipping department. I knew this was hooey, and as I expected, the books were shipped in nothing but a padded paper mailer, no other protection. I got lucky, no damage, but don't bother making special requests of this seller.
