Being offered is a black and white photographic copy negative of New York, Ontario & Western Railway 2-6-0 (Mogul) type camelback steam locomotive No.143. The view is a a left 3/4 shot of the locomotive taken at Middletown, NY in 1901. The identity of the photographer is unknown. The locomotive was built by Cooke in June of 1901, was involved in a head-on collision with No. 144 and rebuilt. It was renumbered 148 in May of 1903, renumbered 248 in February of 1905, and was scrapped on February 6, 1935. the negative measures approximately 3 x 6 inches, is well composed, properly exposed, and in sharp focus. Excellent quality copy negative. Should make great prints.
