Leading by more than 10 minutes, Peters stumbled several times and finally fell to the track 220 yards from the finish. Unable to rise, Peters was assisted from the track by a trainer who thought he had won. He was disqualified.Photo measures 8.25 x 6.75inches. Photo is dated 8-9-1954.
