Perhaps a unique document On offer is an 100 % ORIGINAL leaflet, related to the Weimar Republic Presidential election in 1932 The Reich presidential election of 1932 was the second and last presidential election in the Weimar Republic in which the Reich president was elected directly by the people. It took place on March 13 and April 10, 1932. Paul von Hindenburg (non-party), Adolf Hitler (NSDAP) and Ernst Thälmann (KPD) ran in the second round of voting. In order to prevent Hitler from becoming Reich President, the SPD, the Left Liberals (the German State Party since 1930) and the Center Party, the parties of the so-called Weimar Coalition, supported Hindenburg - unlike in 1925. He emerged victorious in the second round of voting. Vote gains for Hitler showed that the NSDAP's upswing was by no means over. The text on the leaflet reads as follows: Hands off Hindenburg ! We are in the middle of a bitter election campaign. Although Hindenburg's radical right-wing opponents have also given assurances that they will fight in a chivalrous manner, their agitation does not stop at the venerable figure of the Field Marshal and Reich President. Today, all means must be used to disparage Hindenburg. They mocked Hindenburg's old age, thereby abandoning any sense of reverence and dignity. And this is being done by the same people who, as late as January 1932, were quite prepared to put Hindenburg forward as their candidate again. They only demanded that he be obedient to their party's wishes and made their decisions dependent on this. In a circular dated January 11, 1932, the Deutschnationale Party leadership declared that it would again support Hindenburg if he were to take any “obvious political action, such as the formation of a right-wing cabinet or the calling of new elections in the German Reich”. The National Socialist Party took a similar position in an official party announcement of January 8, 1932. This is striking proof that the two groups would not have found fault with Hindenburg if he had submitted to demands on behalf of their party.
