MARS, standing for Military Affiliate Radio Service, is on the job relaying messages from home to men in such faraway places as the South Pole. The messages by teletype are beamed from Ham radio operators all over the country. Here William M. Rowe taps out a message to a lonely man at the Navy base at the South Pole while W.H. Kibbe watches and learns the ins and outs of radio broadcasting. Both men are involved with nightly transmissions of letters from home to men stationed all over the world.
