The stadium was named after Linton Parker, a local businessman and sports figure who played a key role in bringing professional baseball to Richmond. Parker Field was home to several minor league teams, most notably the Richmond Virginians, a Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees from 1954 to 1964.
