Description

Large Lot of 24 c1860s-70s CDV Photos of Mostly Dunedin New Zealand Residents. This is the lesser of the two, and it consists of 24 CDVs ranging from fair to excellent. I am currently offering 19th century cartes-de-visite photos found in a disintegrating period mother-of-pearl album from New Zealand. The photos were collected by and given to a prominent early Dunedin New Zealand settler and colonist named Rob Redmayne, and many of the CDVs in this album feature identified, prominent individuals from the colonial and New Zealand Gold Rush time. Many were taken in prominent New Zealand photographic studios in the Dunedin and Otago region. Having already separately listed the more prominent subjects of photos in this album over the last few weeks, I am selling the remainder of the photos in two lots. This is the lesser of the two, and it consists of 24 CDVs ranging from fair to excellent. A couple are trimmed. Please note that I will not be answering any questions about the individual photos in this lot, as the time-to-value ratio is too great for me to do this. Please peruse the photos and accept that this is an as-is lot. PLEASE NOTE THAT A GREAT MANY PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THIS ALBUM WERE INSCRIBED "REDMAYNE" OR "R. REDMAYNE" ON THE BACK DESPITE BEING OF MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE--AND SOMETIMES CONTAINING A DIFFERENT NAME AS WELL. REDMAYNE WAS NOT THE SUBJECT OF THESE PHOTOS; HE WAS THE COLLECTOR OF THEM, THE OWNER OF THE ALBUM THEY WERE FOUND IN. HIS NAME WAS INSCRIBED ON THE BACKS EITHER BY THE PEOPLE WHO GAVE HIM THE PHOTOS OR BY THE STUDIOS HE ORDERED PRINTS FROM. Please note that, unlike the smaller photo lots I've been selling from this album, I cannot provide international shipping at a flat rate for this lot. It will ship via the United States Post Office at the least expensive rate available.
