Future narratives are present in video games, occasional experimental movie, and choose-your-own-adventurs; the term is intentionally defined in a way that precludes a narrow interpretation. After all, its openness is one of the more important features of the narrative. This book concentrates on general and video games in particular, and looks in the ways future narratives shape them and influence our perceptions. Questions of non-linear game-play and narrative, and an all-encompassing importance of choice are of great importance to the narrative herein. Moral choices are looked at in the context of interplay between ethics and rules and the future of this rapidly evolving genre--the 'story-playing' of the title--is tentatively proposed, of course, providing us with many choices that are going to influence it.
