Con datos de campo y capas GIS, se analizaron variables en dos escalas espaciales y, junto con variables climáticas, se generó un modelo de distribución (SDM) que sitúa el hábitat óptimo en el norte y suroeste de Madrid. Los modelos lineales generales (GLM) mostraron que la abundancia de garduña disminuye con factores antrópicos como la urbanización, las infraestructuras lineales y la ganadería y aumenta con ciertas variables naturales, como la cobertura de matorral y agua y la abundancia de gato montés y disminuye con otras como el pasto. Se destaca la importancia de conservar la garduña por sus roles ecológicos, como dispersor de semillas y depredador (regulación de poblaciones como roedores).
