Moving further south, we have an academic account of the society of Andalusia or Al-Andalus, the enemy with which Roland battles in the epic: The Myth of the Andalusian paradise offers a soberminded assessment of the relations of the various cultures which made up "Islamic" Spain. Alongside these works are two texts which address more sociological topics; Daily Life in the Middle Ages, written for a broader audience is easily readable and offers a good overview of what life looked like, rebutting some common misconceptions; A History of Private Life: Revelations of the Medieval World, is volume II of a series on privacy and family throughout western history. All books are in very good condition, excepting the Daily Life, which has seen some wear and bears some stickers.
