This charming piece features a tulip-shaped socket atop an elegantly waisted column, set into a shallow circular drip tray with a decorative gadroon (rope-twist) edge — a hallmark detail of quality English and American brassware from the 18th and 19th centuries. The finger loop handle is sturdy and well-formed, designed for carrying candlelight room to room as was the nightly custom.
