RARE! 1905 Cruiser OCHAKOV Mutiny Lt Schmidt Russian Revolution Soviet Postcard 📜 Description Vintage historical postcard depicting Lieutenant Pyotr Schmidt, leader of the 1905 Black Sea Fleet sailors’ uprising during the Russian Revolution. The composition includes a portrait of Schmidt and scenes connected with the mutiny on the cruiser Ochakov in November 1905. The postcard reproduces an early revolutionary design with decorative framing and maritime imagery referring to the events of the uprising. Printed text on reverse (translated): “Glory to the fighters for freedom! Unknown artist (monogram ‘C.W.’). Postcards with the portrait of Lieutenant P. P. Schmidt, who led the uprising of the sailors of the Black Sea Fleet in November 1905 on the cruiser Ochakov and other ships, were printed by various publishers between 1905–1907. The reproduced postcard is a montage of photographs and a watercolor drawing depicting the battle of the Ochakov .
